Books by Theme: Humor for the Holidays

A collection of holiday reads for those of you who would rather have a root canal than read another sappy Christmas tale.

by Christopher Moore

Seven-year-old Josh Barker's fervent prayers that Santa Claus--who he witnessed getting bashed in the head with a shovel--come back from the dead, are answered by the archangel Raziel, who unfortunately is not the brightest star in the heavenly realms.

by Michael Spradlin

Provides the lyrics for over two dozen Christmas songs for zombies that may be sung to the tunes of familiar carols, including such favorites as "I Saw Mommy Chewing Santa Claus," and "Deck the Halls with Parts of Wally."
by Augusten Burroughs

Augusten Burroughs recounts moments and experiences from seven Christmases, describing how he crafted gingerbread tenements, woke up next to Kris Kringle, and more.

by Jean Shepherd

Ralphie, a nine-year-old boy in 1940s Indiana, dreams of a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas, but his mother is not sold on the idea.

by Dave Sedaris

For those dreading the holiday season, bestseller Sedaris makes life a little easier with this uproarious essay collection. Sedaris gets the most mileage out of Christmas, from his stint as a Macy's elf in "SantaLand Diaries," to comparing American and Dutch holiday traditions in "Six to Eight Black Men."

Ohnooooooo, not zombie christmas songs too!
Darn their putrid flesh! But I guess it was only a matter of time. Perhaps I can get my teenage son to sing something after all??

And yeah, the "Santa" (phshh, impostor!) looks weird! Where's the jolly 'ol smile?
