Waiting On Wednesday (8)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Parrot and Olivier in America is a dazzlingly inventive reimagining of Alexis de Tocqueville's famous journey, brilliantly evoking the Old World colliding with the New. Above all, it is a wildly funny and deeply tender portrait of two men who come to form an almost impossible friendship, and a completely improbable work of art.
This title will be released on April 20, 2010.

I had to wiki him, felt really out of the loop since all other comments above knew of him! Thankfully I have an excuse, I'm Canadian, lol. I'm going to check this out as humor, politics & history sound like the makings of a great book :)

I never read the original Tocqueville essays but this would be a great substitute. Huge fan of historical fiction. Great pick!
